Ashford beat Stoke Molesey by 7 wickets Surrey Trust League, 11th July 2013 Stoke Molesey 73-8 (A Travers 9, Katie Brown 2-0-8-3) Ashford 74-3 (Jenny Tippell 36* ret., C Elworthy 3-0-11-2) Juniper Green Player of the Match – Katie Brown

Jenny Tippell led from the front in her first match as Ashford Captain, with her side in control of this 15 over evening match right from the start. The opening spells of Rhianna Southby and Ali McCreedy produced four wickets between them, including a very sharp catch behind the stumps by Katie Butler, to leave the home side in trouble. Katie Brown then came into the attack, and produced a spell which won her the Player of the Match award, taking three wickets for only 8 runs. Butler was in the action again, with a stumping, and Brown herself managed to hold on to a tough caught and bowled chance. With the Ashford fielders all doing well, the batsmen found it hard to score, and were forced to take more chances. A run out looked on the cards, and after several close calls, it was Nazia Sadiq’s throw which eventually brought it, finishing off a fine performance by Ashford in the field.

Stoke Molesey’s bowlers proved to be a bit of a handful, Ashford losing three early wickets and only scoring 16 off the first five overs. Nazia Sadiq then joined Jenny Tippell, and the two of them set about the attack, finding the boundary with ease. There were seven 4s in Tippell’s unbeaten 36, and after she had retired, Sadiq saw her side home with three and a half overs to spare.
