Pipeline Update

Pipeline Update

Ashford (Short Lane) Sports Limited - New Pipeline Update - 19-07-2022

After many months of discussion and preparation work, it finally looks as if the pipeline work in Short Lane will start next week. See attached aerial plan of the Sports Club’s site with some annotations for your information.

The contractors do not plan to access the site through our main gates, they will access through a section of fence on the southern border next to (what they call) Dutfield scrubland. All access will be made through this entrance which will be secured overnight, every night.

The purple line on the plan is the currently expected limit of their work which will be protected by Heras fencing throughout the duration of the work. This is much narrower than the limit of Deviation which they can go to, if necessary, but hopefully they can keep things within the purple lines. The white line is the proposed centre line for the pipeline, but this is dependent on the ground conditions and what is found when they start excavating.

There is every chance that the roadway along the eastern side of the car park will be inaccessible during the work, and it will therefore be two-way traffic at all times along the northern side of the car park. Everyone must be mindful of safety in this area and act, as necessary.

They hope to lay the pipeline between the height barrier and the main gate but if this is not possible, the height barrier may need to be removed and reinstalled.

The pipeline then goes along the centre line (approximately) of the mound behind the groundsman’s shed, through the gap in the trees created a few months ago when four trees were felled, it then hugs the tree line until it passes under the fence and across Short Lane.
