Outdoor training for all junior age groups will start at Short Lane on the evening of Friday 17 April.
Weather permitting, training sessions will run every Friday from 18:15 to 20:00.
A reminder to all parents that for their child to train and play with Ashford CC, he/she needs to be a junior member of the club. If you have not done so already, please register your child and yourself with the club website. Once registered, you will be a able to purchase a junior 2026 junior subscription. If you've already registered, please purchase 2026 subscription for your child using the Pitchero app or club website.
Although the will be no training session on the evening of Friday 10th April, our club membership secretary, Jim Berressem, will be at the club from 18:30 to 19:30 to field any questions or queries from parents of new or existing junior members. You can also email Jim for info: membership@ashfordcc.co.uk
And for a new junior members and their parents here a few useful tips for attending FRiday evening training:
- Shorts or tracksuit bottoms are ideal for training. Ideally your child should wear a white tee shirt or a recognised cricket team shirt. No football shirts please.
- Early and late in the summer it can get chilly at Short Lane in the evening so it's a good idea for juniors to come to training with a warm top.
- Trainers are perfect for training, and a requirement if your child is going to be training in the nets or on the artificial strip.
- Please ensure your child comes to training with a water bottle. On a warm evening the bar staff will be happy to top these up with water. With our green hats on wee want to limit the wastefulness using plastic cups - so please bring a water bottle.
- Most older juniors will have and want to use their own cricket kit but we can provide a loan of any equipment a child may need from our club kit bags. Please contact your child’s manager if you require anything.
- For younger children (under 11) attending training a parent/guardian must remain at the club for the duration of the session. And remember that adverse weather may mean training (or matches) may finish earlier than planned.
- Ahead of Friday training keep an eye on the club website. IF the weather is set to be poor for the session an announcement cancelling the session will be posted on the website's news section.
