Inclusion Workshop @ Ashford CC

7:00pm, Wednesday 18 March 2026 - In person at Ashford CC - All volunteers and members welcome - Chance to win tickets to Surrey v Middlesex

Really clear explanation of the issues

Ashford CC invites its volunteers and members to attend an Inclusion Workshop delivered by Surrey Cricket Foundation. Delivered in 90 minutes or less, the workshop breaks down equality law and ECB anti-discrimination rules using cricket-based examples. Designed specifically for recreational participants, it gives attendees tools to tackle discrimination and make inclusion part of everyday club life.

Ashford CC strongly recommends that all committee members, captains, coaches and junior managers should attend.

Through a blend of trainer-led learning, videos, and group discussion, attendees will:

  • Discuss what discrimination is (including the Equality Act) and how it can appear in a cricket setting
  • Explore local demographic data, reporting trends, and national action plans to improve equity in cricket
  • Hear real lived experiences of discrimination from across the cricket world and understand their impact
  • Reflect on how our backgrounds and perspectives influence how we interact with others
  • Learn practical skills in active allyship, speaking up, and creating inclusive environments

Last winter, participants from over 50 clubs took part in the workshop, with surveys showing a 30% increase in attendees’ confidence on average. Here’s what they had to say about the session.

“Really clear explanation of the issues and good scenarios which related specifically to cricket which was very helpful”
“Thought it was pitched at the right level and promoted some interesting debate”
“…the session has helped me to better understand / recognise some of the signs of discrimination”
