I am delighted to announce two significant new appointments ahead of the 2022 season.
Pasan Weeraratne has been appointed as Head Coach. Pasan is a former first-class cricketer and provisional Level 3 ECB coach, with over 14 years’ experience coaching senior and junior teams. Pasan has been actively supporting coaching activities at the Club over the last year, and we are pleased to be able to formalise these arrangements.
Pasan will take primary responsibility for leading all senior men’s and women’s coaching, as well as providing targeted support to junior managers and coaches. We also hope that Pasan will be able to turn out for the senior sides in the Surrey Championship at summer weekends, if personal circumstances allow.
Jamie Tilt has been appointed as Head of Junior Development. Jamie has been a familiar face at Ashford since joining the club as a junior in 2012. He has a degree in Sport and Exercise Science from Loughborough University, is a qualified Level 2 ECB coach and has been a regular member of the Ashford 1st XI over the last five years.
Jamie will take responsibility for the delivery of the pre-season and summer coaching programmes for our junior members. Working closely with Pasan, and with a mandate to introduce additional external coaches as required, Jamie will be looking to establish a consistently high-level of delivery. He is passionate about enhancing the coaching provision for Ashford juniors.
These exciting new appointments reflect your Committee’s desire to invest in improving the coaching support offered to all our playing members. On behalf of the Club, I wish Pasan and Jamie every success in their roles.
