Cricket is Back!

Chris Evans7 Jul 2020 - 21:45

An opportunity for all playing members to play - U16 / U17 and U18 junior members are encouraged to make themselves available too.

At last! Let's go ACC - Saturday 11th July
- Robert Evans - Club Captain

Dear Members,

I am sure you will have seen that the government has announced that recreational cricket can commence from Saturday 11 July.

Please read the following information thoroughly:

Until we receive further clarification, in the form of more guidelines, we do not know exactly what this means and what format of cricket we can play.

However, we need to prepare for any eventualities and need to know your availability for practices matches at Short lane on Saturday – meet 12 midday and /or Sunday 12 July.

U16 / U17 and U18 junior members are encouraged to make themselves available and we will try to involve as many as possible.

ONLY players who have paid a 2020 subscription will be considered. No exceptions.

If someone is not fully paid up by 7pm Thursday evening they will not be included unless they pay later and then, subject only to a vacancy arising.

We will try to have two games running and the day will be managed by the team captains.

The changing rooms will be out-of-bounds, but the toilets will be open.

Under no circumstances must players use the side of the pitch; use the toilets.

Cricket balls may need to be sanitised and players should bring sanitiser for their own hands.

Players will need to bring their own drinks and refreshments for tea as this will not be provided.

We will have to use our cars if there is a rain break although the weather forecast for Saturday is good.

A match fee of £5 will need to be collected, ideally by card reader, from all players before play starts. (In case anyone is unsure, £5 only partly covers the cost of balls, ground preparation, staffing etc).

Hopefully the following week we will have friendly matches v Egham.

The Surrey Championship are planning some sort of limited competition starting 25th July – more details to follow.

If you have any questions or concerns, please ask me or any of the captains
