3. What is Active Surrey

WHAT IS ACTIVE SURREY?

Active Surrey is co-ordinated by the Surrey Sports Partnership to deliver the Government & Sport England's seven-year national development programme "Active Sports". Active Surrey will target ten sports: Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Girls Football, Hockey, Netball, Rugby Union & League, Swimming and Tennis. Active Surrey's main aim is to help young people (aged 10-16) get more from their involvement in sport and encourage participation at quality local sports clubs.

Active Surrey involves Surreys clubs, Local Authorities, Education Services, Schools & Sports Governing Bodies, all working in partnership to give young people, local opportunities for participation, competition and skills improvement in a child-friendly and safe environment.

Active Surrey provides discounted training courses & workshops for Coaches and Club Officials to develop their knowledge, and the "Clubmark" Accreditation Scheme is used to support clubs and help raise their standards.
