Ashford Cricket Club has successfully applied for a grant of £2,500 from Heathrow Community Fund - Communities Together. The "Training for the future" vision will be progressed by using this funding to purchase a mobile net cage and refurbish the tired old astroturf match pitch which resides between the two squares.

This is a real success for the club as it provides us an alternative training facility whilst we continue our fundraising to replace our permanent net facility. The mobile net cage and refurbished astroturf pitch will be incredibly versatile and can be used in many different ways.

We are working with our suppliers to agree dates for the works however our intention is to have things in place and ready for the start of the league season at the latest. We will have a series of events to publicise and celebrate our new facilities, more news will follow on this.

We are grateful to the Heathrow Community Fund for their grant. More information on the fund can be found below.

Heathrow Community Fund is part of an independent grant-making charity set up by Heathrow’s owners to support and strengthen local communities close to the airport. In the past two years it has donated more than £1 million through three grant programmes, funding projects which support young people, help protect the environment and support active local communities.

Funds come from an annual donation from the airport, fines imposed on aircraft that breach noise limits, Heathrow colleagues who raise funds for us, and John Lewis. The fund also supports and encourages Heathrow staff to volunteer and support the local
communities where they live.

More information about the fund and how to apply for grants is available on the website
