29 youngsters enjoy 8 weeks of fun with cricket. Four additional weekly Sunday sessions to start from this Sunday 22 July

After its successful launch in 2017, Ashford CC ran its second cycle of All Stars Cricket this summer. Building on the small 2017 group of 13 children, interest this year was much greater with 29 5-8-year olds signing up to the ECB intiative at Short Lane.

Over 8 sun-blested Sunday mornings in May and June the 30-strong cohort enjoyed fun activities and games designed to develop their bowling, batting and fielding skills as well as build their confidence and provide an opportunity to meet and make new friends. The sessions also prompted parents to take part in the activities and share in the progress of their All Stars. "Throughout the programme the All Stars brought energy and enthusiaism to each session, making the group a joy to lead", said lead activator Jim Berressem.

Having trebled its numbers from 2017, this summer's programme of Sunday morning sessions could not have been delivered so effectively without the help and support of Asma Bawa, Graham Ledger, Geetha Vijay (all parents of 2017 All Stars), Gordon Smith, Chris Evans, Alison McCreedy, Gill Bonham and Jamie Tilt. "I'm very grateful to all those volunteers who gave up their time on Sunday mornings of the past couple of months", added Berressem.

After a two-week break, the All Stars Cricket style sessions return to Short Lane this Sunday 22nd July. These additonal sessions will run for four weeks (22nd & 29 July, 5th & 12th August). Each Sunday session runs from 11am - 12pm. If you and your child are interested in attending a session, please contact Jim Berressem (jim.berressem@gmail.com; 07890811254).
